| | | | Job Description | The City of Ashland, Wisconsin (pop. 8,202) is seeking candidates for the position of GIS Technician in the Engineering Department. Located in northern Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Superior, Ashland is a moderately progressive community with exceptional local schools. The City of Ashland’s GIS Technician position will assist the City Engineer and the GIS Coordinator in the development and maintenance of the geographic information system (GIS) data layers and databases related to the City’s water distribution, waste water collection, storm sewer system, streets, sidewalks, trails, transportation signals/signing, and parks, and other work as assigned.
Ideal candidates will: be self-motivated; possess initiative; demonstrate attention-to-detail; be knowledgeable of GIS, global positioning systems, and computing in general; and have the ability to communicate effectively.
Starting wage is $18.63 per hour with an excellent fringe benefit package, including Wisconsin retirement and life, health and dental insurance. Following successful completion of a six-month probationary period, the wage will be increased to $19.19 per hour; with required one-time union initiation fee of $10.00 and $32.55 dues per month deducted.
