| | | | Job Description | This is a Position-Specific recruitment for a fulltime, Skilled Service vacancy with the Maryland Department of Planning (MDP) in Baltimore, MD. MDP is the State’s planning agency, focusing on smart and sustainable growth and resource conservation. POSITION DUTIES:
This position will perform professional work in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and geo-spatial web application development to support regional planning in the Department’s Land Use Analysis Unit. The position will assist in building, maintaining and revising dynamic Web-based geospatial applications in support of planning-related initiatives and projects. It will assist in implementing State planning policy, program support and research using GIS and analysis techniques.
| | | | | Job Requirements | MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources Management, Information Technology or other related field such as Geography, Planning, etc. with specific coursework in the structure and use of automated information systems.
Experience: One year of experience providing problem analysis and ongoing user support, coordinating system development and implementation, and training users on the functionality of applications for agency or statewide systems housed on mainframe computers or large client server platforms.
Desired Qualifications:
Please include relevant information on your application concerning these qualifications: knowledge of desktop and on-line Geographic Information systems is a plus with a preference for ESRI products and software (e.g. ArcGIS9.3 desktop and Internet Mapping Tools such as ArcGIS Server integrated with ArcSDE). Hands on experience with one or more of the following: Javascript, C#, .NET, and object oriented programming. Experience in developing geospatial solutions with Google Earth and Web map API's, including Bing, Google, ESRI, and Yahoo.
