| | | | Job Description | The Department of Geography at Oklahoma State University invites applications for the open position of Coordinator of the Center for the Applications of Remote Sensing (CARS). This is a full-time, permanent position with the primary responsibility for managing the activities (research and contract projects) of CARS, and overseeing the coordination of all information technologies (IT) in the Department of Geography. CARS is currently active in several contract projects, and the IT duties include the management of 80-100 departmental computers, 2 main departmental servers, and a wide array of GPS units that support both instruction and research activities. The department is seeking an individual with demonstrated skills in the use of remote sensing and/or GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technologies in a broad range of fields. The person must also have a strong background in Windows desktop and server computing environments. A basic knowledge of either or both LINUX/UNIX and Apple/Mac computing platforms is also desirable.
A master's degree in geography or a closely related field is required. Extensive experience in remote sensing, GIS, and/or computer environments is expected. The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability to offer short courses or assist in lab instruction is desirable. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and demonstrated experience.
