| | | | Job Description | POSITION:
GIS Analyst position (Research Associate I Special) available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands, to be assigned at Fort Wainwright, Alaska to provide support for the U.S. Army Garrison Alaska (USAG-AK) Directorate of Public Works, facilities management, master planning, and environmental resources programs. Position contingent upon the availability of funds. Position contingent upon successful completion of background check.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate and manage public works data development. Create and update assigned GIS data layers. Perform field data collection using GPS. Rectify aerial photography and digitize features from imagery. Convert historical CAD drawings to digital GIS and perform analysis using GIS database. Prepare metadata for GIS projects. Prepare high-quality maps and exhibits with GIS data sets. Implement conversion and migration of data from a variety of formats. Monitor quality control within area of responsibility. Some travel may be required.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

| | | | | Job Requirements | MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
U.S. Citizenship. BS/BA degree in geography, urban planning or closely related with GIS emphasis, or degree in related field with certificate in GIS. At least six months of post-graduate work experience in GIS.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
Demonstrated knowledge of ArcGIS program software. Demonstrated skills in computer aided design AutoCAD Map or MicroStation Geographics drawing, GIS mapping, data collection, and database development. Knowledge of enterprise GIS systems and Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure and the Environment (SDSFIE) data standards. Demonstrated experience working with GIS applications in facilities management, natural resources management, digital cartography, and with the military. | |
