| | | | Job Description | The McHenry County Conservation District is currently seeking a GIS Specialist to manage all aspects of the Natural Resource Management Department’s Geographic Information Systems.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job responsibilities include, but not limited to:
•Create and manage the District’s GIS databases using the latest releases of ArcGIS software.
•Query and analyze ecological spatial data.
•Utilize GPS for field mapping of biological data.
•Create presentation maps for various district departments and outside agencies.
•Analyzes entered biological data as required to assist in guiding management and restoration activities.
•Assist with natural resources related tasks such as prescribed burning.
| | | | | Job Requirements | Qualifications for this position include, but not limited to:
•The knowledge equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in a natural resource related field, one year experience of developing GIS database applications; or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
•Practical experience with GIS using ESRI ArcGIS software, version 8 or higher, and working knowledge with GPS necessary.
•Some experience with remote sensing, web publishing, implementing server GIS, and application development helpful.
•A valid motor vehicle operator's license.
