Geographic Information Systems Technician I/II
Nevada County, CA
I: $3,099 - $3,784 per month
II: $ 3,424 - $4,181 per month

The County of Nevada, California, one of the most picturesque areas in the State, is located in the Sierra Foothills, situated among tall pines, dogwoods and beautiful maples. We’re conveniently located between cosmopolitan Sacramento and pristine Lake Tahoe. Perform a variety of technical and general assignments, which include creating and maintaining maps and other geographic data by manual and automated means; creates and maintain the Geographic Information System (GIS) data base; evaluate GIS data and information and generate maps and reports as requested; and perform related work as required.
Minimum Requirements:
GIS Technician I:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree, including coursework in geographic information systems, planning, geography, physical sciences, forestry, information systems, surveying, computer science, cartography, or a closely related field; plus one year of experience working with automated mapping and GIS systems; ArcInfo/ArcGIS and Arcview experience is preferred; experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
GIS Technician II (in addition to the above): Two years of professional experience at a level equivalent to Nevada County’s classification of GIS Technician I.
Licenses and Certificates Possession of a valid California driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
