The project is to develop Web-GIS system for the water resources department of Rajasthan. It includes various modules like Location, Hydrological, Surface water, Groundwater, Project area, Catchment /Command Area, Meteorological Data & Other Related data of Water Resources department. These modules will enable client to make analysis for mission critical aspects and decision making.

Generation of simulated LiDAR Point Cloud Data using Terrain Information (4 months (August 2008 to November 2008)) (Got A grade)
For generation of simulated LiDAR point cloud data used software "LIMULATOR2.0".
LiDAR data can be generated for a user specified terrain with given parameters of the sensor and aerial platform. The simulator is conceived having three components: 1) Terrain component, 2)
Sensor component and 3) Platform component. Terrain component is formed using multiple mathematical surfaces for bare terrain and for objects on top of the surface. Further, the terrain can be represented using a raster. The sensor component permits a user to opt for the commercially available sensors or a generic sensor and accordingly generates data. The third component attempts to model the platform parameters, viz., velocity, roll, pitch, yaw and accelerations. LiDAR data are generated by first finding the equation of laser vector that changes with each pulse and then determining the point of intersection of this vector with the mathematical surface or the raster representing terrain. This GUI based simulator, developed in JAVA, is an ideal tool for research and education.

Classification of terrain using LiDAR data (7 months (December 2008 to June 2009)) (Got A grade)
With the availability of LiDAR (Light detection and ranging) technology (airborne and terrestrial) it has become possible to speedily capture the terrain information at high resolution with required accuracy. However, the raw LiDAR cannot be used directly in the physical process modeling and there is need to develop techniques which can be facilitating use of these data in models. One approach followed is to use LiDAR data to generate conventional data products which can be input to the models (e.g. contour map or DEM). The buildings and other ground objects are separately classified and input into the models. The classification steps for different features work independent of each other. However, the error of omission and commission are not independent of the classes. In the view of above, there is a need to develop a LiDAR data classification system this can classify terrain in major classes using an approach where the classifications for all categories are done simultaneously in a dependent manner. Furthermore, the classified data need to be represented in such a manner so the same can be used effectively in physical process models.
