Other Information
I am a graduating senior at Carthage College with a B.A. in Geography and Marketing. As I have been pursuing career opportunities, a GIS analyst career opportunity is definitely of interest to me and would correlate well with the experience listed below and on my resume’.

Over the past few years, I have received some of the best experience in market analytics and sales in real estate which complemented a business geographics course. As part of this class, my group worked on finding the best site for a certain type of business franchise. We looked at the overall market picture of the entire United States and narrowed the choices down to specific markets, then to specific locations. The methodology that was taken included market share and draw analytics, demographic analysis and comparison between markets using several weighted models created in a geographic information system (ESRI tools). Our final project was submitted to the American Collegiate Retailing Association (ACRA) and received high marks while being in the top five nationally.

Another example of the using market analysis tools is with real estate. I began to work part-time for Bear Realty in Kenosha, Wisconsin as an Assistant Real Estate Agent to one of the top producers. Creating market analysis for various clients’ needs was one of the key tasks that were given as the team catered to the purchase and sale of residential homes. Finding the need for these clients usually meant that a comparative market analysis be conducted and several properties that met predetermined criteria recommended.
